|
| The goal
of the Gifted Resource Center is to provide a customized
starting point in your search for resources appropriate for

Sponsorship |
|
An anonymous donor who directs her philanthropy towards supporting the educational needs of highly able young people generously sponsors the development of the Gifted Resource Center. The Institute is grateful for her dedication to this endeavor. The Institute does not charge any
fees for resources that have been included in the Gifted
Resource Center. In order to continue providing the
Gifted Resource Center at no cost, the Institute
relies upon the generosity of corporate sponsorships and individuals
like you.

Resources in the Databases |
|
| Information
for each resource is verified through an extensive editing process.
After a resource is entered and edited for consistency by Institute
staff, it is reviewed for accuracy by a contact at the resource
organization.
While the Institute takes considerable efforts to ensure that the information pertaining to resources in the databases is accurate, we encourage you to contact the resource directly to confirm that the information provided is current.

Search Strategies/Help |
|
These strategies are guidelines intended to help you search through the Gifted Resource Center databases. Narrowing or Expanding Your Search Each searchable database contains a search page that determines which resources will be included in the list of possibilities. On the search page you can select as many options as you wish. The fewer options you select, the less restricted your search will be and the more resources you will receive. The more options you select, the more narrowed your search will be and the fewer resources you will receive. If you receive an extensive list of resources and would like to narrow it down, you may click the “Back” button on your Internet browser and select more options on the search page. If you receive no resources or a very short list, you may click the “Back” button on your Internet browser and unselect options that are not critical to your search. Please feel free to experiment with the search by selecting different options to get a feel for how the database works. To illustrate how the search process works, consider the examples below:
In summary, selecting more than one response to a question will generate a list of all the available resources containing one OR the other of the selections, but not necessarily both. For example, selecting grades four, five and six within item for "Age/Grade Level" will generate a list of resources that serve grades four, five OR six but not programs that only serve all grades four, five, AND six. Selecting responses to different questions will generate a list of resources containing all of those selections. For example, selecting grade three from item three and Science from item eight will generate a list containing resources for third grade students AND Science. Selecting More Than One Response to a
Question Check Boxes - A check box is a small square
located just to the right of an option. To select an option,
click one time inside the check box(es) corresponding to the
option you are interested in. A check will appear inside the
box(es) corresponding to the option(s) that you’ve selected.
You can unselect any of the options by clicking one time inside
of the corresponding box. The check will then disappear.
